Nothing beats leaf for a metallic finish—gilding leaf is real sheets of metal, just very very thin. Seal leaf with clear shellac to maintain a brilliant shine or wax for a slightly softer looking finish. Use with our Coda Artisans gilding size. We recommend using Florence Chalk Paint® as a basecoat for copper leaf for an authentic verdigris look as seen in Annie Sloan's Colour Recipes for Painted Furniture book.
